Now that we have read and discussed the first few pages of Eating Animals, I’d like you to write
about the same topic in your own life. What does food mean to your family? You can write about any
of the subtopics we mentioned in class: a special dish that you or someone in your family makes, a
particular meal that has special meaning to you, a religious or cultural tradition that involves special
food, the “greatest chef” in your family, your own beliefs and choices about what you eat.
Don’t worry about spelling or grammar for this informal writing, just try to write freely and honestly.
