Read:
We use imperatives to give directions or suggestions. We can also use them to talk about math. When we solve math problems, we use imperatives, such as add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Remember that the imperative is formed with the base verb. We do not use a subject.
Math Problem | Use an Imperative to Say |
---|---|
2 + 2 | Add two plus two |
5 - 3 | Subtract three from five |
3 x 2 | Multiply three times two |
10 ÷ 2 | Divide ten by two |
