My name is Karine Badawi and I am a teacher who came from Ontario, Canada. I studied sociology and psychology at the University of Waterloo and then attended University of Western Ontario to study Education. It's a sure sign that school is in session when there's snow on the ground when you live in Ontario. The snow can get as high as your knees and the cold makes the air hard to breathe. As much as I miss it, I am relieved that I don't have to shovel my car out of the driveway anymore now that I live in Seattle. I have lived in the Seattle area for just over two years now and it didn't take long for me to fall in love with the beautiful scenery of mountains, lakes, and evergreens. It's such a contrast from when I used to live in Ontario since it was quite flat and there were no mountains. After living in Washington state, I've had the opportunity to explore many interesting and challenging hikes. This made me an avid hiker that loves to be outdoors so that I can experience Mother Nature first-hand. One of my favorite hikes is called Rattlesnake Ledge. It's not too far from here and it doesn't require much experience to trek up its mountainside trail. I prefer to do the hike in the summer when it's not too windy. Every time I reach the top, I remind myself how much fun I've had these past couple of years in the northwest, and I look forward to continue taking advantage of all that it has to offer.
